Glenn Hinds has provided a range of training and support to Opportunity Youth over the last three years. In particular he has delivered Motivational Interviewing training to all staff, including those working with young people and adults with substance misuse issues, both in the community and across the prison estate. Glenn has also delivered MI training to all managers in Opportunity Youth.
The latest training delivered by Glenn was with the DAISY East Team, a partnership project between ASCERT and OY. DAISY East is a treatment service for young people and their families affected by substance misuse. Glenn worked with the team for four days across March 2012, developing our therapeutic group work skills and knowledge.
Glenn has delivered all training and coaching to a very high standard and is inspirational to all of us. His approach is person-centred, professional, sensitive, flexible and creative. Most of all he can challenge us in our practice through reflective learning. He demonstrates significant knowledge and experience in working therapeutically with people who need and want to make changes in their lives, for whatever reason. In particular, he has helped OY staff and managers to embed motivational interviewing as a fundamental tool in our work with young people and adults involved in high risk behaviours.
